Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Consumer Goods, Industrials and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 1.70% to hit a new 1-month low, while the SBF 120 index fell 1.70%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Eurofins Scientific SE (EPA:EUFI), which rose 0.19% or 0.12 points to trade at 61.84 at the close. Meanwhile, Hermes International SCA (EPA:HRMS) fell 0.20% or 3.80 points to end at 1,886.40 and Orange SA (EPA:ORAN) was down 0.21% or 0.02 points to 11.58 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STMPA), which fell 5.38% or 2.23 points to trade at 39.30 at the close. Stellantis NV (EPA:STLAM) declined 4.09% or 0.62 points to end at 14.63 and Worldline SA (EPA:WLN) was down 3.45% or 1.40 points to 39.21.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Voltalia SA (EPA:VLTSA) which rose 2.07% to 14.80, Edenred SA (EPA:EDEN) which was up 0.53% to settle at 60.94 and Nexans SA (EPA:NEXS) which gained 0.33% to close at 76.85.
The worst performers were Verallia (EPA:VRLA) which was down 6.13% to 34.32 in late trade, Faurecia (EPA:EPED) which lost 5.65% to settle at 19.89 and STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STMPA) which was down 5.38% to 39.30 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 379 to 150 and 87 ended unchanged.
Shares in Edenred SA (EPA:EDEN) rose to all time highs; up 0.53% or 0.32 to 60.94.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.69% or 13.65 to $1,960.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.92% or 0.67 to hit $73.58 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.82% or 0.63 to trade at $77.47 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.13% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.22% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.37% at 103.76.
