Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Basic Materials and Consumer Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 1.37% to hit a new 1-month low, while the SBF 120 index declined 1.25%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Renault SA (EPA:RENA), which rose 1.56% or 0.44 points to trade at 28.61 at the close. Meanwhile, Carrefour SA (EPA:CARR) added 1.09% or 0.18 points to end at 16.64 and Worldline SA (EPA:WLN) was up 0.78% or 0.33 points to 42.79 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were TotalEnergies SE (EPA:TTEF), which fell 3.32% or 1.74 points to trade at 50.69 at the close. Schneider Electric SE (EPA:SCHN) declined 3.12% or 3.82 points to end at 118.78 and Airbus Group SE (EPA:AIR) was down 2.71% or 2.73 points to 97.89.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Euroapi SAS (EPA:EAPI) which rose 4.96% to 15.55, Elior Group (EPA:ELIOR) which was up 3.96% to settle at 3.20 and Eutelsat Communications SA (EPA:ETL) which gained 2.68% to close at 9.02.
The worst performers were Biomerieux SA (EPA:BIOX) which was down 5.61% to 91.26 in late trade, TotalEnergies SE (EPA:TTEF) which lost 3.32% to settle at 50.69 and Eramet SA (EPA:ERMT) which was down 3.25% to 84.85 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 332 to 217 and 83 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.49% or 8.55 to $1,727.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.73% or 0.67 to hit $90.97 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.81% or 0.79 to trade at $97.05 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.41% to 1.01, while EUR/GBP rose 0.69% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 108.57.
