Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Oil & Gas Producers, Oil & Gas and Automobiles & Parts sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 1.28% to hit a new 3-months low, while the SBF 120 index fell 1.22%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Technip (PARIS:TECF), which rose 0.81% or 0.48 points to trade at 59.54 at the close. Meanwhile, Vivendi (PARIS:VIV) added 0.15% or 0.04 points to end at 23.59 and LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA (PARIS:LVMH) was down 0.03% or 0.05 points to 160.25 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Peugeot SA (PARIS:PEUP), which fell 2.78% or 0.50 points to trade at 17.48 at the close. Valeo (PARIS:VLOF) declined 2.71% or 3.90 points to end at 140.00 and Alcatel-Lucent (PARIS:ALUA) was down 2.43% or 0.085 points to 3.412.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Soitec (PARIS:SOIT) which rose 6.58% to 0.810, GTT (PARIS:GTT) which was up 3.91% to settle at 55.81 and Coface (PARIS:COFA) which gained 3.69% to close at 10.29.
The worst performers were Euronext (PARIS:ENX) which was down 4.94% to 37.17 in late trade, Numericable Pr (PARIS:NUME) which lost 4.93% to settle at 47.360 and Nexans (PARIS:NEXS) which was down 4.16% to 33.20 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 634 to 262 and 58 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 2.83% to 24.96 a new 3-months high.
Gold for August delivery was up 0.31% or 3.60 to $1171.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.89% or 1.12 to hit $58.01 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.19% or 0.76 to trade at $62.55 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.07% to 1.1233, while EUR/GBP rose 0.90% to 0.7342.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.73% at 95.67.
