Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Consumer Services, Utilities and Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.79%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.82%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which rose 1.60% or 0.34 points to trade at 21.63 at the close. Meanwhile, Publicis Groupe SA (EPA:PUBP) added 0.95% or 0.94 points to end at 100.40 and Orange SA (EPA:ORAN) was up 0.68% or 0.07 points to 9.71 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Pernod Ricard SA (EPA:PERP), which fell 3.99% or 4.35 points to trade at 104.75 at the close. Teleperformance SE (EPA:TEPRF) declined 2.42% or 2.06 points to end at 83.18 and Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (EPA:SGOB) was down 2.01% or 1.72 points to 84.06.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Viridien SA (EPA:VIRI) which rose 9.03% to 58.90, Valneva (EPA:VLS) which was up 4.73% to settle at 2.22 and Forvia (EPA:FRVIA) which gained 2.61% to close at 8.59.
The worst performers were Nexans SA (EPA:NEXS) which was down 9.26% to 92.10 in late trade, Mersen (EPA:CBLP) which lost 5.14% to settle at 19.92 and Remy Cointreau (EPA:RCOP) which was down 4.83% to 55.20 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 308 to 173 and 103 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.12% or 30.19 to $2,720.99 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 3.14% or 2.32 to hit $76.24 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 3.11% or 2.39 to trade at $79.31 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.59% to 1.02, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.19% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.49% at 109.54.
