Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Technology, Utilities and Consumer Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 0.56%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.59%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO), which rose 2.03% or 0.44 points to trade at 22.11 at the close. Meanwhile, Sanofi SA (EPA:SASY) added 1.75% or 1.80 points to end at 104.62 and Schneider Electric SE (EPA:SCHN) was up 1.75% or 2.68 points to 155.92 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Societe Generale SA (EPA:SOGN), which fell 3.25% or 0.73 points to trade at 21.59 at the close. BNP Paribas SA (EPA:BNPP) declined 2.38% or 1.41 points to end at 57.73 and Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (EPA:MICP) was down 1.55% or 0.44 points to 27.91.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Solutions 30 SE (EPA:S30) which rose 3.44% to 2.17, Casino Guichard Perrachon SA (EPA:CASP) which was up 3.30% to settle at 6.58 and Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO) which gained 2.03% to close at 22.11.
The worst performers were Orpea SA (EPA:ORP) which was down 16.98% to 2.41 in late trade, Sartorius Stedim Biotech SA (EPA:STDM) which lost 7.44% to settle at 241.40 and Eutelsat Communications SA (EPA:ETL) which was down 5.93% to 5.87 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 321 to 200 and 101 ended unchanged.
Shares in Sanofi SA (EPA:SASY) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 1.75% or 1.80 to 104.62. Shares in Sartorius Stedim Biotech SA (EPA:STDM) fell to 52-week lows; falling 7.44% or 19.40 to 241.40. Shares in Eutelsat Communications SA (EPA:ETL) fell to all time lows; losing 5.93% or 0.37 to 5.87.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.07% or 1.45 to $2,001.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 1.94% or 1.53 to hit $77.23 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 2.04% or 1.68 to trade at $80.86 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.65% to 1.10, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.06% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.56% at 101.64.
