Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Oil & Gas and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.56%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.69%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Eurofins Scientific SE (EPA:EUFI), which rose 4.20% or 3.08 points to trade at 76.48 at the close. Meanwhile, LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (EPA:LVMH) added 2.59% or 14.30 points to end at 566.00 and Dassault Systemes SE (EPA:DAST) was up 2.50% or 0.86 points to 35.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Societe Generale SA (EPA:SOGN), which fell 5.51% or 1.30 points to trade at 22.30 at the close. BNP Paribas SA (EPA:BNPP) declined 4.69% or 2.30 points to end at 46.74 and WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) was down 4.54% or 2.41 points to 50.68.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Valneva (EPA:VLS) which rose 19.62% to 14.23, Atos SE (EPA:ATOS) which was up 6.18% to settle at 13.40 and Eurofins Scientific SE (EPA:EUFI) which gained 4.20% to close at 76.48.
The worst performers were Air France KLM SA (EPA:AIRF) which was down 6.98% to 1.21 in late trade, Elior Group (EPA:ELIOR) which lost 6.98% to settle at 2.19 and Faurecia (EPA:EPED) which was down 6.65% to 19.30 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 365 to 177 and 87 ended unchanged.
Shares in WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) fell to 52-week lows; losing 4.54% or 2.41 to 50.68. Shares in Air France KLM SA (EPA:AIRF) fell to all time lows; losing 6.98% or 0.09 to 1.21. Shares in Elior Group (EPA:ELIOR) fell to all time lows; down 6.98% or 0.16 to 2.19.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.33% or 6.15 to $1,832.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 2.22% or 2.36 to hit $103.83 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.97% or 2.20 to trade at $109.54 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.54% to 1.05, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.19% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.28% at 104.28.
