Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Consumer Goods, Basic Materials and Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.54%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.56%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were BNP Paribas SA (EPA:BNPP), which rose 3.14% or 1.51 points to trade at 49.38 at the close. Meanwhile, AXA SA (EPA:AXAF) added 3.11% or 0.78 points to end at 25.86 and TotalEnergies SE (EPA:TTEF) was up 1.16% or 0.65 points to 56.88 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Legrand SA (EPA:LEGD), which fell 5.44% or 4.20 points to trade at 73.00 at the close. WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) declined 5.26% or 2.59 points to end at 46.52 and Renault SA (EPA:RENA) was down 3.78% or 1.19 points to 30.33.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Elior Group (EPA:ELIOR) which rose 6.29% to 2.27, Orpea SA (EPA:ORP) which was up 4.11% to settle at 8.65 and Trigano SA (EPA:TRIA) which gained 3.82% to close at 103.20.
The worst performers were CGG SA (EPA:GEPH) which was down 24.08% to 0.69 in late trade, Faurecia (EPA:EPED) which lost 8.69% to settle at 13.50 and Legrand SA (EPA:LEGD) which was down 5.44% to 73.00 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 339 to 205 and 94 ended unchanged.
Shares in TotalEnergies SE (EPA:TTEF) rose to 5-year highs; rising 1.16% or 0.65 to 56.88.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.10% or 18.20 to $1,631.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.67% or 1.50 to hit $88.50 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 1.22% or 1.17 to trade at $94.99 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.71% to 0.97, while EUR/GBP rose 1.24% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 1.45% at 112.84.
