Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Consumer Goods and Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.46%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.45%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were TotalEnergies SE (EPA:TTEF), which rose 2.73% or 1.43 points to trade at 53.85 at the close. Meanwhile, Danone SA (EPA:DANO) added 2.03% or 1.12 points to end at 56.25 and Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO) was up 1.58% or 0.41 points to 26.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STMPA), which fell 2.29% or 1.02 points to trade at 43.55 at the close. Worldline SA (EPA:WLN) declined 2.15% or 0.73 points to end at 33.15 and Capgemini SE (EPA:CAPP) was down 2.15% or 3.80 points to 173.00.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Casino Guichard Perrachon SA (EPA:CASP) which rose 11.30% to 8.32, Orpea SA (EPA:ORP) which was up 4.62% to settle at 2.17 and Vallourec (EPA:VLLP) which gained 3.85% to close at 10.39.
The worst performers were Elior Group (EPA:ELIOR) which was down 3.47% to 2.61 in late trade, Valneva (EPA:VLS) which lost 3.28% to settle at 7.37 and Solutions 30 SE (EPA:S30) which was down 2.99% to 2.86 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 292 to 229 and 105 ended unchanged.
Shares in Worldline SA (EPA:WLN) fell to 52-week lows; down 2.15% or 0.73 to 33.15.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.19% or 3.75 to $1,943.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.95% or 1.39 to hit $72.58 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.63% or 1.24 to trade at $77.14 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.48% to 1.10, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.53% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.32% at 101.80.
