Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Consumer Goods, Oil & Gas and Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 0.38%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.37%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Worldline SA (EPA:WLN), which rose 2.38% or 0.92 points to trade at 39.52 at the close. Meanwhile, Societe Generale SA (EPA:SOGN) added 2.00% or 0.54 points to end at 27.32 and Carrefour SA (EPA:CARR) was up 1.99% or 0.37 points to 18.71 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Eurofins Scientific SE (EPA:EUFI), which fell 3.79% or 2.60 points to trade at 66.00 at the close. Sanofi SA (EPA:SASY) declined 1.83% or 1.66 points to end at 88.89 and Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (EPA:MICP) was down 1.56% or 0.47 points to 29.73.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Wendel (EPA:MWDP) which rose 3.86% to 107.50, Ovh Groupe SAS (EPA:OVH) which was up 3.82% to settle at 14.28 and Sopra Steria Group SA (EPA:SOPR) which gained 3.71% to close at 187.10.
The worst performers were SES (EPA:SESFd) which was down 8.84% to 6.37 in late trade, Eurofins Scientific SE (EPA:EUFI) which lost 3.79% to settle at 66.00 and Sartorius Stedim Biotech SA (EPA:STDM) which was down 3.71% to 308.70 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 277 to 262 and 91 ended unchanged.
Shares in Wendel (EPA:MWDP) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 3.86% or 4.00 to 107.50. Shares in Sopra Steria Group SA (EPA:SOPR) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 3.71% or 6.70 to 187.10.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.64% or 11.75 to $1,836.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 2.42% or 1.83 to hit $77.51 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 2.07% or 1.70 to trade at $83.74 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.02% to 1.06, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.29% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 104.58.
