Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Consumer Services and Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.13%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.16%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Sanofi SA (EPA:SASY), which rose 2.16% or 1.73 points to trade at 81.81 at the close. Meanwhile, Carrefour SA (EPA:CARR) added 1.72% or 0.25 points to end at 14.79 and Vinci SA (EPA:SGEF) was up 1.18% or 0.98 points to 84.02 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STM), which fell 3.08% or 1.01 points to trade at 31.98 at the close. Veolia Environnement VE SA (EPA:VIE) declined 2.68% or 0.54 points to end at 19.46 and BNP Paribas SA (EPA:BNPP) was down 2.33% or 1.02 points to 42.77.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Imerys SA (EPA:IMTP) which rose 5.20% to 34.80, Ovh Groupe SAS (EPA:OVH) which was up 3.11% to settle at 10.77 and Sanofi SA (EPA:SASY) which gained 2.16% to close at 81.81.
The worst performers were Solvay SA (EBR:SOLB) which was down 5.40% to 82.76 in late trade, Arkema SA (EPA:AKE) which lost 4.89% to settle at 72.38 and Gaztransport et Technigaz SA (EPA:GTT) which was down 3.61% to 112.00 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 304 to 232 and 94 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.78% or 13.05 to $1,688.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.85% or 1.69 to hit $89.44 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.67% or 1.61 to trade at $94.58 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.68% to 0.98, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.29% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.59% at 112.40.
