Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Utilities, Industrials and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.00% to hit a new 6-months low, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.99%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Capgemini SE (EPA:CAPP), which rose 2.30% or 3.70 points to trade at 164.60 at the close. Meanwhile, STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STMPA) added 2.09% or 0.85 points to end at 41.20 and Orange SA (EPA:ORAN) was up 1.93% or 0.21 points to 10.99 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were TotalEnergies SE (EPA:TTEF), which fell 1.94% or 1.19 points to trade at 60.09 at the close. Thales (EPA:TCFP) declined 1.91% or 2.50 points to end at 128.60 and Legrand SA (EPA:LEGD) was down 1.63% or 1.42 points to 85.76.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Orpea SA (EPA:ORP) which rose 11.51% to 1.66, Clariane SE (EPA:CLARI) which was up 3.13% to settle at 5.60 and Eiffage SA (EPA:FOUG) which gained 2.33% to close at 85.10.
The worst performers were Atos SE (EPA:ATOS) which was down 6.70% to 5.91 in late trade, Vallourec (EPA:VLLP) which lost 3.19% to settle at 10.46 and Fnac Darty SA (EPA:FNAC) which was down 2.83% to 21.94 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 339 to 182 and 99 ended unchanged.
Shares in Atos SE (EPA:ATOS) fell to 5-year lows; falling 6.70% or 0.42 to 5.91. Shares in Fnac Darty SA (EPA:FNAC) fell to 3-years lows; falling 2.83% or 0.64 to 21.94.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.30% or 5.50 to $1,836.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 4.45% or 3.97 to hit $85.26 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 4.40% or 4.00 to trade at $86.92 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.45% to 1.05, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.18% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.26% at 106.44.
