Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Consumer Goods and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 2.28% to hit a new all time high, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.92%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (EPA:LVMH), which rose 12.81% or 87.80 points to trade at 773.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Pernod Ricard SA (EPA:PERP) added 7.85% or 11.40 points to end at 156.55 and Hermes International SCA (EPA:HRMS) was up 6.63% or 122.20 points to 1,966.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Engie SA (EPA:ENGIE), which fell 3.34% or 0.51 points to trade at 14.66 at the close. STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STMPA) declined 2.61% or 1.11 points to end at 41.30 and Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield SE (EPA:URW) was down 0.74% or 0.50 points to 66.78.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Remy Cointreau (EPA:RCOP) which rose 15.16% to 101.25, LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (EPA:LVMH) which was up 12.81% to settle at 773.10 and Mersen (EPA:CBLP) which gained 10.10% to close at 33.80.
The worst performers were Solutions 30 SE (EPA:S30) which was down 5.75% to 2.59 in late trade, Worldline SA (EPA:WLN) which lost 5.23% to settle at 13.06 and Engie SA (EPA:ENGIE) which was down 3.34% to 14.66 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 308 to 194 and 110 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.04% or 0.85 to $2,016.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.40% or 1.08 to hit $76.28 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 1.09% or 0.90 to trade at $81.53 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.16% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.09% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.18% at 103.19.
