Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Utilities, Industrials and Basic Materials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 1.75%, while the SBF 120 index gained 1.70%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Alstom SA (PA:ALSO), which rose 5.20% or 1.03 points to trade at 20.83 at the close. Meanwhile, EssilorLuxottica SA (PA:ESLX) added 4.17% or 6.34 points to end at 158.48 and BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP) was up 4.04% or 1.98 points to 51.01 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Thales (PA:TCFP), which fell 2.14% or 2.40 points to trade at 109.65 at the close. STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM) declined 1.09% or 0.38 points to end at 34.62 and Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP) was down 0.98% or 0.54 points to 54.80.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Valneva (PA:VLS) which rose 8.60% to 16.92, Solutions 30 SE (PA:S30) which was up 7.96% to settle at 7.66 and Coface (PA:COFA) which gained 6.51% to close at 10.14.
The worst performers were Rubis SCA (PA:RUBF) which was down 8.23% to 26.11 in late trade, CGG SA (PA:GEPH) which lost 6.98% to settle at 0.91 and Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which was down 5.74% to 10.18 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 407 to 176 and 77 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 1.23% or 24.40 to $1,960.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 6.84% or 7.48 to hit $101.85 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 6.03% or 6.79 to trade at $105.88 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.61% to 1.10, while EUR/GBP rose 0.70% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.30% at 98.89.
