Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Utilities, Industrials and Basic Materials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 1.39% to hit a new all time high, while the SBF 120 index gained 1.24%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN), which rose 4.83% or 1.47 points to trade at 31.93 at the close. Meanwhile, BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP) added 3.35% or 2.05 points to end at 63.25 and Danone SA (PA:DANO) was up 2.96% or 1.63 points to 56.62 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Eurofins Scientific SE (PA:EUFI), which fell 4.91% or 5.24 points to trade at 101.52 at the close. STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM) declined 1.78% or 0.79 points to end at 43.22 and Sanofi SA (PA:SASY) was down 1.41% or 1.26 points to 88.07.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Air France KLM SA (PA:AIRF) which rose 8.13% to 4.39, Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN) which was up 4.83% to settle at 31.93 and Rexel (PA:RXL) which gained 4.41% to close at 18.95.
The worst performers were Valneva (PA:VLS) which was down 23.70% to 17.640 in late trade, Sartorius Stedim Biotech SA (PA:STDM) which lost 7.86% to settle at 441.90 and Biomerieux SA (PA:BIOX) which was down 6.85% to 116.95 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 319 to 269 and 83 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 52-week low.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.77% or 13.95 to $1814.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.42% or 1.08 to hit $77.16 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.42% or 1.12 to trade at $80.10 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.00% to 1.1294, while EUR/GBP fell 0.45% to 0.8343.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 96.225.
