Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Consumer Services, Utilities and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 1.27% to hit a new all time high, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.22%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STMPA), which rose 2.95% or 1.21 points to trade at 42.21 at the close. Meanwhile, Stellantis NV (EPA:STLAM) added 2.87% or 0.68 points to end at 24.22 and AXA SA (EPA:AXAF) was up 2.84% or 0.89 points to 32.06 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Carrefour SA (EPA:CARR), which fell 1.15% or 0.19 points to trade at 16.29 at the close. Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO) declined 1.00% or 0.12 points to end at 11.83 and Orange SA (EPA:ORAN) was down 0.68% or 0.07 points to 10.77.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Sopra Steria Group SA (EPA:SOPR) which rose 9.74% to 232.20, Bureau Veritas SA (EPA:BVI) which was up 7.52% to settle at 27.03 and Compagnie Plastic Omnium SE (EPA:PLOF) which gained 6.82% to close at 11.12.
The worst performers were Imerys SA (EPA:IMTP) which was down 4.33% to 30.92 in late trade, BIC (EPA:BICP) which lost 2.67% to settle at 67.40 and Lectra SA (EPA:LECS) which was down 2.52% to 30.90 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 301 to 210 and 95 ended unchanged.
Shares in Stellantis NV (EPA:STLAM) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.87% or 0.68 to 24.22. Shares in AXA SA (EPA:AXAF) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 2.84% or 0.89 to 32.06. Shares in Sopra Steria Group SA (EPA:SOPR) rose to all time highs; up 9.74% or 20.60 to 232.20.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.15% or 3.05 to $2,031.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 1.18% or 0.92 to hit $78.83 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.94% or 0.78 to trade at $83.81 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.03% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.11% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 103.97.
