Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Utilities, Industrials and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 1.00%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 1.03%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which rose 3.38% or 0.47 points to trade at 14.51 at the close. Meanwhile, Danone SA (PA:DANO) added 3.34% or 2.05 points to end at 63.41 and Sodexo (PA:EXHO) was up 2.54% or 2.40 points to 96.76 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP), which fell 2.26% or 0.25 points to trade at 10.81 at the close. Bouygues SA (PA:BOUY) declined 2.04% or 0.54 points to end at 25.93 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) was down 1.42% or 0.059 points to 4.091.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Electricite de France SA (PA:EDF) which rose 5.48% to 10.97, Edenred (PA:EDEN) which was up 5.17% to settle at 18.50 and Worldline SA (PA:WLN) which gained 4.27% to close at 26.275.
The worst performers were Sopra Steria Group SA (PA:SOPR) which was down 5.03% to 93.07 in late trade, Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) which lost 2.26% to settle at 10.81 and Bouygues SA (PA:BOUY) which was down 2.04% to 25.93 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 455 to 195 and 122 ended unchanged.
Shares in Sodexo (PA:EXHO) rose to all time highs; up 2.54% or 2.40 to 96.76.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 9.31% to 24.05.
Gold for August delivery was down 0.58% or 7.65 to $1319.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 2.21% or 1.10 to hit $48.78 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 2.34% or 1.20 to trade at $50.12 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.47% to 1.1072, while EUR/GBP rose 0.72% to 0.8346.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.54% at 96.21.
