Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Basic Materials and Technology sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.87%, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.83%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Cap Gemini SA (PA:CAPP), which rose 2.44% or 2.24 points to trade at 94.21 at the close. Meanwhile, Vivendi SA (PA:VIV) added 1.87% or 0.35 points to end at 19.07 and Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PA:MICP) was up 1.71% or 1.95 points to 115.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Societe Generale (PA:SOGN), which fell 0.36% or 0.17 points to trade at 46.99 at the close. Pernod Ricard SA (PA:PERP) declined 0.34% or 0.40 points to end at 117.00 and Atos SE (PA:ATOS) was up 0.08% or 0.10 points to 127.65.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Aperam SA (AS:APAM) which rose 2.98% to 43.76, Biomerieux (PA:BIOX) which was up 2.96% to settle at 193.00 and STMicroelectronics (PA:STM) which gained 2.63% to close at 14.460.
The worst performers were Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which was down 0.70% to 4.400 in late trade, Spie SA (PA:SPIE) which lost 0.48% to settle at 22.820 and Societe Generale (PA:SOGN) which was down 0.36% to 46.99 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 359 to 212 and 110 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 11.65% to 15.55.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.34% or 4.42 to $1292.28 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.82% or 0.39 to hit $47.92 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.70% or 0.36 to trade at $52.02 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.43% to 1.1765, while EUR/GBP rose 0.09% to 0.9167.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.40% at 93.37.
