Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Utilities, Industrials and Basic Materials sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.81% to hit a new all time high, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.74%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Renault SA (PA:RENA), which rose 5.31% or 1.72 points to trade at 34.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) added 5.09% or 0.83 points to end at 17.25 and Stellantis NV (PA:STLA) was up 3.91% or 0.69 points to 18.40 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Capgemini SE (PA:CAPP), which fell 2.12% or 4.60 points to trade at 212.60 at the close. Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE) declined 1.38% or 0.45 points to end at 32.19 and Eurofins Scientific SE (PA:EUFI) was down 1.06% or 1.08 points to 100.44.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Renault SA (PA:RENA) which rose 5.31% to 34.00, Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) which was up 5.09% to settle at 17.25 and Stellantis NV (PA:STLA) which gained 3.91% to close at 18.40.

The worst performers were Ovh Groupe SAS (PA:OVH) which was down 3.38% to 25.91 in late trade, Neoen SA (PA:NEOEN) which lost 2.24% to settle at 35.84 and Capgemini SE (PA:CAPP) which was down 2.12% to 212.60 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 316 to 251 and 94 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 52-week low.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.48% or 8.65 to $1823.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.83% or 1.41 to hit $78.40 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.63% or 1.30 to trade at $81.30 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.51% to 1.1342, while EUR/GBP rose 0.08% to 0.8346.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.37% at 95.922.
