Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Technology, Industrials and Consumer Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.77% to hit a new 1-month high, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.74%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Safran SA (PA:SAF), which rose 2.37% or 2.48 points to trade at 107.04 at the close. Meanwhile, Renault SA (PA:RENA) added 2.13% or 0.62 points to end at 29.80 and Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (PA:SGOB) was up 1.83% or 1.10 points to 61.06 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which fell 2.04% or 0.59 points to trade at 28.36 at the close. Hermes International SCA (PA:HRMS) declined 1.13% or 17.50 points to end at 1533.00 and Orange SA (PA:ORAN) was down 0.26% or 0.02 points to 9.35.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Compagnie Plastic Omnium SE (PA:PLOF) which rose 4.11% to 22.82, Faurecia (PA:EPED) which was up 3.47% to settle at 41.20 and Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) which gained 3.38% to close at 26.60.
The worst performers were Valneva (PA:VLS) which was down 2.69% to 25.320 in late trade, Virbac SA (PA:VIRB) which lost 2.59% to settle at 414.50 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) which was down 2.04% to 28.36 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 368 to 232 and 94 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 52-week low.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.41% or 7.35 to $1809.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.21% or 0.88 to hit $73.64 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.28% or 0.96 to trade at $76.24 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.11% to 1.1336, while EUR/GBP fell 0.37% to 0.8449.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 95.985.
