Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Services, Technology and Healthcare sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.69% to hit a new 1-month high, while the SBF 120 index added 1.00%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Schneider Electric SE (EPA:SCHN), which rose 2.21% or 4.90 points to trade at 226.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Veolia Environnement VE SA (EPA:VIE) added 2.02% or 0.58 points to end at 29.33 and AXA SA (EPA:AXAF) was up 1.96% or 0.64 points to 33.28 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STMPA), which fell 2.22% or 0.85 points to trade at 37.47 at the close. Stellantis NV (EPA:STLAM) declined 1.93% or 0.39 points to end at 19.82 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) was down 1.50% or 0.36 points to 23.61.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Clariane SE (EPA:CLARI) which rose 24.26% to 3.44, Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO) which was up 9.36% to settle at 17.11 and Air France KLM SA (EPA:AIRF) which gained 4.72% to close at 10.46.
The worst performers were Valneva (EPA:VLS) which was down 4.74% to 3.25 in late trade, Rubis SCA (EPA:RUBF) which lost 4.01% to settle at 31.14 and Forvia (EPA:FRVIA) which was down 3.60% to 14.85 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 284 to 220 and 97 ended unchanged.
Shares in Schneider Electric SE (EPA:SCHN) rose to all time highs; up 2.21% or 4.90 to 226.40.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.13% or 3.10 to $2,327.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.83% or 0.65 to hit $79.03 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.61% or 0.51 to trade at $83.67 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.02% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.06% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 105.35.
