Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Industrials, Basic Materials and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.64%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.64%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STMPA), which rose 3.59% or 1.42 points to trade at 41.15 at the close. Meanwhile, Renault SA (EPA:RENA) added 2.86% or 0.94 points to end at 33.62 and Dassault Systemes SE (EPA:DAST) was up 2.80% or 1.02 points to 37.48 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Carrefour SA (EPA:CARR), which fell 2.63% or 0.47 points to trade at 17.60 at the close. Engie SA (EPA:ENGIE) declined 1.58% or 0.23 points to end at 14.50 and Orange SA (EPA:ORAN) was down 0.86% or 0.10 points to 11.33.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Trigano SA (EPA:TRIA) which rose 13.32% to 131.00, Air France KLM SA (EPA:AIRF) which was up 4.88% to settle at 1.69 and STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STMPA) which gained 3.59% to close at 41.15.
The worst performers were Carrefour SA (EPA:CARR) which was down 2.63% to 17.60 in late trade, Valneva (EPA:VLS) which lost 2.41% to settle at 5.58 and Vallourec (EPA:VLLP) which was down 2.03% to 11.07 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 326 to 197 and 91 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.34% or 26.65 to $1,958.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 1.59% or 1.16 to hit $71.67 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.69% or 1.30 to trade at $75.66 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.70% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.02% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.72% at 103.46.
