France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 0.55%

Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Technology, Oil & Gas and Basic Materials sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.55%, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.64%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which rose 3.61% or 0.75 points to trade at 21.41 at the close. Meanwhile, TotalEnergies SE (EPA:TTEF) added 3.08% or 1.49 points to end at 49.76 and Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (EPA:SGOB) was up 2.93% or 1.09 points to 38.13 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Pernod Ricard SA (EPA:PERP), which fell 2.94% or 5.55 points to trade at 183.30 at the close. Danone SA (EPA:DANO) declined 1.77% or 0.86 points to end at 47.71 and AXA SA (EPA:AXAF) was down 1.09% or 0.25 points to 22.23.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Mcphy Energy (EPA:MCPHY) which rose 10.64% to 10.50, Vallourec (EPA:VLLP) which was up 7.56% to settle at 10.65 and Solutions 30 SE (EPA:S30) which gained 5.72% to close at 2.24.

The worst performers were Casino Guichard Perrachon SA (EPA:CASP) which was down 5.79% to 9.03 in late trade, Orpea SA (EPA:ORP) which lost 4.98% to settle at 10.68 and Air France KLM SA (EPA:AIRF) which was down 4.50% to 1.24 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 284 to 271 and 74 ended unchanged.

Shares in Casino Guichard Perrachon SA (EPA:CASP) fell to 5-year lows; losing 5.79% or 0.56 to 9.03.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.67% or 27.95 to $1,699.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 4.35% or 3.46 to hit $82.95 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 3.81% or 3.24 to trade at $88.38 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.09% to 0.98, while EUR/GBP fell 0.90% to 0.87.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.28% at 111.76.
