Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Technology and Healthcare sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.55%, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.49%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (PA:LVMH), which rose 3.67% or 24.70 points to trade at 697.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Hermes International SCA (PA:HRMS) added 2.39% or 32.00 points to end at 1368.50 and Capgemini SE (PA:CAPP) was up 1.99% or 4.00 points to 205.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM), which fell 3.07% or 1.31 points to trade at 41.35 at the close. Vivendi SA (PA:VIV) declined 2.24% or 0.26 points to end at 11.58 and AXA SA (PA:AXAF) was down 2.08% or 0.60 points to 28.00.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Eramet SA (PA:ERMT) which rose 5.66% to 94.25, LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (PA:LVMH) which was up 3.67% to settle at 697.70 and Klepierre SA (PA:LOIM) which gained 3.64% to close at 23.65.
The worst performers were Valneva (PA:VLS) which was down 12.04% to 13.810 in late trade, Metropole Television SA (PA:MMTP) which lost 8.06% to settle at 17.10 and Television Francaise 1 SA (PA:TFFP) which was down 7.38% to 8.47 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 315 to 246 and 82 ended unchanged.
Shares in Eramet SA (PA:ERMT) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 5.66% or 5.05 to 94.25.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 52-week low.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.58% or 28.65 to $1841.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.61% or 1.37 to hit $86.20 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.38% or 1.21 to trade at $88.72 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.18% to 1.1345, while EUR/GBP fell 0.04% to 0.8326.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 95.537.
