Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Technology, Basic Materials and Consumer Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.50%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.50%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Teleperformance SE (EPA:TEPRF), which rose 2.64% or 4.05 points to trade at 157.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Societe Generale SA (EPA:SOGN) added 2.02% or 0.48 points to end at 24.20 and Bouygues SA (EPA:BOUY) was up 2.01% or 0.60 points to 30.39 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Schneider Electric SE (EPA:SCHN), which fell 2.07% or 3.42 points to trade at 161.94 at the close. Sanofi SA (EPA:SASY) declined 0.49% or 0.46 points to end at 93.18 and Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (EPA:SGOB) was down 0.36% or 0.21 points to 57.70.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Carmila SA (EPA:CARM) which rose 7.39% to 15.40, Soitec SA (EPA:SOIT) which was up 4.30% to settle at 168.75 and Valneva (EPA:VLS) which gained 4.09% to close at 6.97.
The worst performers were Eutelsat Communications SA (EPA:ETL) which was down 2.72% to 6.07 in late trade, Casino Guichard Perrachon SA (EPA:CASP) which lost 2.53% to settle at 3.23 and Rexel (EPA:RXL) which was down 2.13% to 23.01 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 289 to 224 and 106 ended unchanged.
Shares in Soitec SA (EPA:SOIT) rose to 52-week highs; rising 4.30% or 6.95 to 168.75.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.07% or 1.45 to $1,963.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.28% or 0.21 to hit $75.96 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.31% or 0.25 to trade at $80.36 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.69% to 1.12, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.29% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.61% at 99.58.
