Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumer Services, Basic Materials and Healthcare sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.48% to hit a new 6-months high, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.48%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were L’Oreal SA (EPA:OREP), which rose 2.53% or 9.55 points to trade at 387.00 at the close. Meanwhile, STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STM) added 1.99% or 0.76 points to end at 38.73 and Renault SA (EPA:RENA) was up 1.89% or 0.70 points to 38.02 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Engie SA (EPA:ENGIE), which fell 5.47% or 0.72 points to trade at 12.47 at the close. Veolia Environnement VE SA (EPA:VIE) declined 1.42% or 0.39 points to end at 27.08 and Publicis Groupe SA (EPA:PUBP) was down 1.07% or 0.68 points to 62.70.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Orpea SA (EPA:ORP) which rose 3.87% to 7.79, Alten SA (EPA:LTEN) which was up 3.64% to settle at 136.60 and Vallourec (EPA:VLLP) which gained 3.37% to close at 12.90.
The worst performers were SES Imagotag (EPA:SESL) which was down 7.02% to 119.20 in late trade, Engie SA (EPA:ENGIE) which lost 5.47% to settle at 12.47 and JC Decaux SA (EPA:JCDX) which was down 3.70% to 20.30 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 278 to 267 and 87 ended unchanged.
Shares in L’Oreal SA (EPA:OREP) rose to 52-week highs; rising 2.53% or 9.55 to 387.00. Shares in Renault SA (EPA:RENA) rose to 52-week highs; rising 1.89% or 0.70 to 38.02.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.62% or 11.85 to $1,909.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.17% or 0.14 to hit $79.97 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.94% or 0.79 to trade at $85.25 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.31% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP fell 0.86% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.27% at 102.22.
