Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Technology and Consumer Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.41% to hit a new 1-month high, while the SBF 120 index added 0.51%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO), which rose 5.19% or 1.00 points to trade at 20.25 at the close. Meanwhile, Thales (EPA:TCFP) added 3.82% or 4.65 points to end at 126.25 and Worldline SA (EPA:WLN) was up 2.81% or 1.23 points to 45.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Dassault Systemes SE (EPA:DAST), which fell 2.75% or 1.01 points to trade at 35.66 at the close. Publicis Groupe SA (EPA:PUBP) declined 2.32% or 1.36 points to end at 57.20 and Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (EPA:MICP) was down 1.80% or 0.46 points to 25.07.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Atos SE (EPA:ATOS) which rose 14.03% to 10.37, Ovh Groupe SAS (EPA:OVH) which was up 8.59% to settle at 13.02 and Solutions 30 SE (EPA:S30) which gained 8.47% to close at 2.37.
The worst performers were Orpea SA (EPA:ORP) which was down 33.34% to 9.83 in late trade, Nexans SA (EPA:NEXS) which lost 4.41% to settle at 96.55 and Metropole Television SA (EPA:MMTP) which was down 3.93% to 10.27 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 290 to 229 and 94 ended unchanged.
Shares in Orpea SA (EPA:ORP) fell to 5-year lows; down 33.34% or 4.91 to 9.83.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.78% or 12.85 to $1,670.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 3.33% or 2.84 to hit $88.16 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 2.46% or 2.26 to trade at $94.00 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.11% to 1.01, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.04% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.09% at 109.62.
