Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Technology and Consumer Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.05% to hit a new 5-year high, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.04%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Bouygues SA (PA:BOUY), which rose 4.54% or 1.82 points to trade at 41.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Orange SA (PA:ORAN) added 4.06% or 0.58 points to end at 14.88 and Credit Agricole SA (PA:CAGR) was up 2.75% or 0.355 points to 13.260 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP), which fell 1.02% or 0.64 points to trade at 61.82 at the close. LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (PA:LVMH) declined 0.87% or 2.70 points to end at 309.00 and Total SA (PA:TOTF) was down 0.70% or 0.38 points to 54.12.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Iliad (PA:ILD) which rose 7.28% to 141.55, Bouygues SA (PA:BOUY) which was up 4.54% to settle at 41.90 and Orange SA (PA:ORAN) which gained 4.06% to close at 14.88.
The worst performers were Groupe FNAC (PA:FNAC) which was down 1.61% to 94.750 in late trade, Soitec SA (PA:SOIT) which lost 1.56% to settle at 78.950 and Trigano (PA:TRIA) which was down 1.55% to 171.30 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 287 to 275 and 103 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 0.35% to 12.55.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.11% or 1.40 to $1292.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.36% or 0.26 to hit $72.61 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.87% or 0.69 to trade at $79.91 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.05% to 1.1785, while EUR/GBP fell 0.11% to 0.8772.
The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 93.46.
