Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Oil & Gas Producers, Oil & Gas and Leisure Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 1.00% to hit a new 5-year high, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.95%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Total SA (PARIS:TOTF), which rose 2.50% or 1.16 points to trade at 47.63 at the close. Meanwhile, Solvay (BRU:SOLB) added 2.26% or 3.00 points to end at 135.90 and AXA SA (PARIS:AXAF) was up 2.14% or 0.50 points to 23.82 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Alcatel-Lucent (PARIS:ALUA), which fell 2.01% or 0.073 points to trade at 3.565 at the close. Safran (PARIS:SAF) declined 0.97% or 0.64 points to end at 65.54 and Valeo (PARIS:VLOF) was down 0.61% or 0.85 points to 138.60.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Saft (PARIS:S1A) which rose 8.49% to 36.93, CNP Assurances (PARIS:CNPP) which was up 4.44% to settle at 16.585 and Korian (PARIS:KORI) which gained 4.22% to close at 35.095.
The worst performers were Zodiac Aerospace (PARIS:ZODC) which was down 4.68% to 31.60 in late trade, Eurofins Scientific (PARIS:EUFI) which lost 2.51% to settle at 250.70 and Virbac (PARIS:VIRB) which was down 2.37% to 235.25 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 556 to 351 and 52 ended unchanged.
Shares in Solvay (BRU:SOLB) rose to all time highs; rising 2.26% or 3.00 to 135.90. Shares in AXA SA (PARIS:AXAF) rose to 5-year highs; rising 2.14% or 0.50 to 23.82. Shares in Saft (PARIS:S1A) rose to 5-year highs; up 8.49% or 2.89 to 36.93. Shares in Korian (PARIS:KORI) rose to 3-year highs; up 4.22% or 1.420 to 35.095.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 6.13% to 16.65.
Gold for April delivery was up 1.33% or 15.50 to $1184.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in May rose 3.21% or 1.46 to hit $46.99 a barrel, while the May Brent Oil contract rose 1.22% or 0.67 to trade at $55.09 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.87% to 1.0857, while EUR/GBP rose 0.30% to 0.7246.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.60% at 97.86.
