Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Leisure Goods and Automobiles & Parts sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.02% to hit a new 5-year high, while the SBF 120 index added 0.08%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Carrefour (PARIS:CARR), which rose 2.27% or 0.69 points to trade at 31.05 at the close. Meanwhile, Lafarge (PARIS:LAFP) added 1.98% or 1.27 points to end at 65.27 and Solvay (BRU:SOLB) was up 1.92% or 2.50 points to 132.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Unibail-Rodamco (AMS:UNBP), which fell 2.27% or 5.90 points to trade at 253.55 at the close. Essilor International (PARIS:ESSI) declined 1.50% or 1.60 points to end at 105.20 and Valeo (PARIS:VLOF) was down 1.30% or 1.75 points to 132.85.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Aperam (AMS:APAM) which rose 9.92% to 34.90, Television Francaise 1 SA (PARIS:TFFP) which was up 5.36% to settle at 16.400 and Faurecia (PARIS:EPED) which gained 4.59% to close at 41.97.
The worst performers were Genfit (PARIS:GNFT) which was down 9.01% to 59.070 in late trade, Klepierre (PARIS:LOIM) which lost 4.63% to settle at 43.45 and Bureau Veritas (PARIS:BVI) which was down 4.24% to 20.21 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 522 to 423 and 28 ended unchanged.
Shares in Carrefour (PARIS:CARR) rose to 3-year highs; rising 2.27% or 0.69 to 31.05. Shares in Aperam (AMS:APAM) rose to all time highs; gaining 9.92% or 3.15 to 34.90. Shares in Television Francaise 1 SA (PARIS:TFFP) rose to 5-year highs; up 5.36% or 0.835 to 16.400. Shares in Faurecia (PARIS:EPED) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 4.59% or 1.84 to 41.97.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 1.56% to 16.84.
Gold for April delivery was down 2.47% or 29.50 to $1166.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in April fell 1.87% or 0.95 to hit $49.81 a barrel, while the April Brent Oil contract fell 0.62% or 0.38 to trade at $60.10 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 1.65% to 1.0846, while EUR/GBP fell 0.39% to 0.7208.
The US Dollar Index was up 1.38% at 97.73.
