Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Gas Water, Utilities and Oil & Gas Producers sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.50% to hit a new 5-year high, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.45%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Veolia Environnement (PARIS:VIE), which rose 2.55% or 0.425 points to trade at 17.070 at the close. Meanwhile, GDF Suez (PARIS:GSZ) added 2.31% or 0.43 points to end at 19.24 and Technip (PARIS:TECF) was up 2.18% or 1.26 points to 59.16 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Airbus Group (PARIS:AIR), which fell 1.87% or 0.99 points to trade at 51.85 at the close. Safran (PARIS:SAF) declined 1.25% or 0.77 points to end at 60.92 and Valeo (PARIS:VLOF) was down 1.18% or 1.60 points to 133.65.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Innate Pharma (PARIS:IPH) which rose 5.58% to 10.210, Suez Environnement (PARIS:SEVI) which was up 4.50% to settle at 16.940 and Saft (PARIS:S1A) which gained 3.22% to close at 31.07.
The worst performers were Genfit (PARIS:GNFT) which was down 3.14% to 65.910 in late trade, Airbus Group (PARIS:AIR) which lost 1.87% to settle at 51.85 and Bureau Veritas (PARIS:BVI) which was down 1.49% to 19.90 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 529 to 396 and 45 ended unchanged.
Shares in Veolia Environnement (PARIS:VIE) rose to 3-year highs; gaining 2.55% or 0.425 to 17.070. Shares in Suez Environnement (PARIS:SEVI) rose to 3-year highs; gaining 4.50% or 0.730 to 16.940. Shares in Saft (PARIS:S1A) rose to 3-year highs; rising 3.22% or 0.97 to 31.07.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 7.68% to 17.32 a new 1-month low.
Gold for April delivery was down 0.42% or 5.00 to $1195.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in April rose 0.83% or 0.41 to hit $49.86 a barrel, while the April Brent Oil contract rose 0.70% or 0.41 to trade at $59.31 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.13% to 1.1320, while EUR/GBP fell 0.10% to 0.7325.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.07% at 94.72.
