Investing.com – Canada stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Industrials, Energy and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite declined 0.50%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were BlackBerry Ltd (TO:BB), which rose 15.38% or 1.58 points to trade at 11.85 at the close. Meanwhile, Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. (TO:IVN) added 6.27% or 0.320 points to end at 5.420 and Shaw Communications Inc (TO:SJRb) was up 4.81% or 1.32 points to 28.77 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bombardier Inc (TO:BBDb), which fell 6.33% or 0.150 points to trade at 2.220 at the close. Teck Resources Ltd B (TO:TECKb) declined 5.87% or 1.85 points to end at 29.64 and HudBay Minerals Inc. (TO:HBM) was down 5.69% or 0.51 points to 8.45.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 597 to 521 and 141 ended unchanged.

The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 5.92% to 13.77.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.91% or 11.55 to $1285.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.94% or 0.50 to hit $52.90 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 1.01% or 0.57 to trade at $55.66 a barrel.
CAD/USD was up 0.53% to 0.7544, while CAD/EUR fell 0.06% to 0.7071.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.54% at 100.09.
