Investing.com – Canada stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Healthcare, Energy and Consumer Discretionary sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite lost 0.45%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were ARC Resources Ltd . (TO:ARX), which rose 8.03% or 0.71 points to trade at 9.55 at the close. Meanwhile, Eldorado Gold Corp (TO:ELD) added 5.71% or 0.29 points to end at 5.37 and Semafo Inc . (TO:SMF) was up 5.30% or 0.15 points to 2.98 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Cronos Group Inc (TO:CRON), which fell 8.28% or 2.3500 points to trade at 26.0400 at the close. Linamar Corporation (TO:LNR) declined 7.57% or 3.94 points to end at 48.13 and First Quantum Minerals Ltd . (TO:FM) was down 5.31% or 0.77 points to 13.72.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 528 to 508 and 133 ended unchanged.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 1.09% to 15.71.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.27% or 3.55 to $1317.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.15% or 0.08 to hit $52.72 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.76% or 0.47 to trade at $62.10 a barrel.
CAD/USD was up 0.27% to 0.7534, while CAD/EUR rose 0.48% to 0.6653.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 96.412.
