Investing.com – Canada stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Healthcare, Materials and Energy sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite declined 0.44%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Great Canadian Gaming Corporation (TO:GC), which rose 12.37% or 4.20 points to trade at 38.15 at the close. Meanwhile, Badger Daylighting Ltd . (TO:BAD) added 4.05% or 0.94 points to end at 24.14 and Lucara Diamond Corp (TO:LUC) was up 3.23% or 0.070 points to 2.240 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Crew Energy Inc (TO:CR), which fell 6.47% or 0.11 points to trade at 1.59 at the close. Enercare Inc (TO:ECI) declined 5.89% or 1.11 points to end at 17.75 and Raging River Exploration Inc. (TO:RRX) was down 5.55% or 0.34 points to 5.79.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 695 to 449 and 116 ended unchanged.
Shares in Great Canadian Gaming Corporation (TO:GC) rose to all time highs; gaining 12.37% or 4.20 to 38.15. Shares in Enercare Inc (TO:ECI) fell to 52-week lows; losing 5.89% or 1.11 to 17.75. Shares in Raging River Exploration Inc. (TO:RRX) fell to 3-years lows; losing 5.55% or 0.34 to 5.79.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 0.07% to 15.15.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.66% or 8.80 to $1326.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 2.06% or 1.29 to hit $61.31 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 1.95% or 1.28 to trade at $64.51 a barrel.
CAD/USD was down 0.21% to 0.7751, while CAD/EUR fell 0.26% to 0.6245.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 89.55.
