Investing.com – Canada stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Energy, Healthcare and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite lost 0.30%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Element Fleet Management Corp (TO:EFN), which rose 10.40% or 0.94 points to trade at 9.98 at the close. Meanwhile, Kirkland Lake Gold Ltd (TO:KL) added 5.69% or 0.940 points to end at 17.460 and First Majestic Silver Corp. (TO:FR) was up 4.42% or 0.39 points to 9.21 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Baytex Energy Corp (TO:BTE), which fell 5.35% or 0.20 points to trade at 3.54 at the close. Crew Energy Inc (TO:CR) declined 4.44% or 0.19 points to end at 4.09 and Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. (TO:IVN) was down 4.39% or 0.200 points to 4.360.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 559 to 540 and 125 ended unchanged.
Shares in Kirkland Lake Gold Ltd (TO:KL) rose to 5-year highs; up 5.69% or 0.940 to 17.460.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 3.27% to 11.05.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.36% or 4.63 to $1277.83 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 2.87% or 1.46 to hit $49.33 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 2.42% or 1.38 to trade at $55.62 a barrel.
CAD/USD was up 0.24% to 0.7977, while CAD/EUR rose 0.04% to 0.6798.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.15% at 93.63.
