Investing.com – Canada stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the IT, Energy and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite lost 0.29%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Canopy Growth Corp (TO:WEED), which rose 13.89% or 9.010 points to trade at 73.880 at the close. Meanwhile, Aurora Cannabis Inc (TO:ACB) added 10.50% or 1.440 points to end at 15.150 and SNC-Lavalin Group Inc . (TO:SNC) was up 5.92% or 2.67 points to 47.75 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were CES Energy Solutions Corp (TO:CEU), which fell 4.38% or 0.170 points to trade at 3.710 at the close. Tamarack Valley Energy Ltd (TO:TVE) declined 3.93% or 0.170 points to end at 4.160 and NuVista Energy Ltd . (TO:NVA) was down 3.68% or 0.270 points to 7.060.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 558 to 552 and 130 ended unchanged.

The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 15.67% to 18.53 a new 6-months high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.71% or 8.70 to $1230.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.46% or 0.33 to hit $71.67 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.41% or 0.33 to trade at $80.76 a barrel.
CAD/USD was up 0.33% to 0.7702, while CAD/EUR rose 0.12% to 0.6649.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.20% at 94.75.
