Investing.com – Canada stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Materials, Healthcare and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite lost 0.27%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Bombardier Inc (TO:BBDb), which rose 6.07% or 0.130 points to trade at 2.270 at the close. Meanwhile, Lucara Diamond Corp (TO:LUC) added 5.22% or 0.120 points to end at 2.420 and Spin Master Corp (TO:TOY) was up 3.62% or 1.59 points to 45.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ProMetic Life Sciences Inc. (TO:PLI), which fell 4.94% or 0.080 points to trade at 1.540 at the close. Eldorado Gold Corporation (TO:ELD) declined 4.79% or 0.14 points to end at 2.78 and Fortuna Silver Mines Inc (TO:FVI) was down 4.10% or 0.24 points to 5.62.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 591 to 488 and 138 ended unchanged.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 1.01% to 10.95.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.98% or 12.85 to $1298.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.63% or 0.33 to hit $51.89 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.96% or 0.56 to trade at $57.87 a barrel.
CAD/USD was up 0.20% to 0.8095, while CAD/EUR rose 0.66% to 0.6867.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.44% at 92.85.
