Investing.com – Canada stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Healthcare, Telecoms and Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite declined 0.27% to hit a new 6-months low.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Klondex Mines Ltd. (TO:KDX), which rose 8.75% or 0.330 points to trade at 4.100 at the close. Meanwhile, Enerplus Corporation (TO:ERF) added 8.27% or 0.89 points to end at 11.65 and CES Energy Solutions Corp (TO:CEU) was up 8.13% or 0.430 points to 5.720 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Boardwalk REIT (TO:BEI_u), which fell 11.30% or 5.47 points to trade at 42.94 at the close. ProMetic Life Sciences Inc. (TO:PLI) declined 5.44% or 0.080 points to end at 1.390 and Wheaton Precious Metals Corp (TO:WPM) was down 5.06% or 1.29 points to 24.19.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 575 to 505 and 133 ended unchanged.
Shares in Boardwalk REIT (TO:BEI_u) fell to 52-week lows; down 11.30% or 5.47 to 42.94. Shares in ProMetic Life Sciences Inc. (TO:PLI) fell to 52-week lows; down 5.44% or 0.080 to 1.390.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 3.45% to 13.80.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.46% or 5.87 to $1295.97 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.43% or 0.21 to hit $48.80 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.23% or 0.12 to trade at $52.02 a barrel.
CAD/USD was up 0.51% to 0.7887, while CAD/EUR rose 0.04% to 0.6669.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.35% at 92.97.
