Investing.com – Canada stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Clean Technology, IT and Consumer Discretionary sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite lost 0.16%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were IAMGold Corporation (TO:IMG), which rose 6.80% or 0.500 points to trade at 7.850 at the close. Meanwhile, MAG Silver Corp . (TO:MAG) added 6.63% or 0.92 points to end at 14.80 and Valeant Pharmaceuticals International Inc (TO:VRX) was up 5.03% or 0.91 points to 19.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Linamar Corporation (TO:LNR), which fell 13.88% or 10.68 points to trade at 66.24 at the close. SSR Mining Inc (TO:SSRM) declined 9.48% or 1.17 points to end at 11.17 and Pason Systems Inc . (TO:PSI) was down 6.55% or 1.31 points to 18.70.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 572 to 513 and 156 ended unchanged.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 14.97% to 13.21.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.43% or 5.53 to $1281.33 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.65% or 0.37 to hit $56.83 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.30% or 0.19 to trade at $63.50 a barrel.
CAD/USD was up 0.34% to 0.7853, while CAD/EUR rose 0.30% to 0.6775.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 94.76.
