Investing.com – Canada stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Energy, Clean Technology and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite lost 0.12%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Cronos Group Inc (TO:CRON), which rose 6.01% or 1.5500 points to trade at 27.3600 at the close. Meanwhile, Yamana Gold Inc (TO:YRI) added 5.98% or 0.21 points to end at 3.72 and Eldorado Gold Corp (TO:ELD) was up 5.63% or 0.35 points to 6.57 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Crescent Point Energy Corp . (TO:CPG), which fell 4.71% or 0.21 points to trade at 4.25 at the close. Canada Goose Holdings Inc (TO:GOOS) declined 4.12% or 2.67 points to end at 62.18 and Birchcliff Energy Ltd . (TO:BIR) was down 3.54% or 0.14 points to 3.81.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 636 to 445 and 125 ended unchanged.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 0.36% to 13.86.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.74% or 9.75 to $1328.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.07% or 0.04 to hit $59.00 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.15% or 0.10 to trade at $66.85 a barrel.
CAD/USD was up 0.19% to 0.7459, while CAD/EUR rose 0.28% to 0.6593.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 96.035.
