Investing.com – Canada stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Clean Technology, Energy and Consumer Discretionary sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite lost 0.10%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were First Quantum Minerals Ltd . (TO:FM), which rose 7.73% or 1.45 points to trade at 20.22 at the close. Meanwhile, NexGen Energy Ltd. (TO:NXE) added 6.08% or 0.160 points to end at 2.790 and Trican Well Service Ltd . (TO:TCW) was up 5.12% or 0.170 points to 3.490 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Element Fleet Management Corp (TO:EFN), which fell 10.35% or 0.56 points to trade at 4.85 at the close. Tahoe Resources Inc (TO:THO) declined 6.51% or 0.34 points to end at 4.88 and Crew Energy Inc (TO:CR) was down 6.25% or 0.12 points to 1.80.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 561 to 538 and 128 ended unchanged.

The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0.00% to 21.65 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.40% or 5.30 to $1331.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.17% or 0.10 to hit $59.19 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.27% or 0.17 to trade at $62.76 a barrel.
CAD/USD was down 0.13% to 0.7941, while CAD/EUR fell 0.63% to 0.6428.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.47% at 89.59.
