Investing.com – Canada stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Clean Technology, Utilities and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite lost 0.01%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Eldorado Gold Corp (TSX:ELD), which rose 5.42% or 1.29 points to trade at 25.11 at the close. Meanwhile, K92 Mining Inc (TSX:KNT) added 4.59% or 0.42 points to end at 9.57 and Lundin Mining Corporation (TSX:LUN) was up 4.23% or 0.60 points to 14.77 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Innergex Renewable Energy Inc . (TSX:INE), which fell 4.32% or 0.41 points to trade at 9.09 at the close. Brookfield Renewable Energy Partners LP (TSX:BEP_u) declined 4.10% or 1.55 points to end at 36.25 and Linamar Corporation (TSX:LNR) was down 3.76% or 2.31 points to 59.17.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 559 to 382 and 100 ended unchanged.
Shares in K92 Mining Inc (TSX:KNT) rose to 52-week highs; rising 4.59% or 0.42 to 9.57.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 4.21% to 11.64.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.04% or 28.60 to $2,784.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.01% or 0.01 to hit $67.39 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.08% or 0.06 to trade at $70.94 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.22% to 0.72, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.27% to 0.66.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 104.17.
