Investing.com – Canada stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Consumer Staples, IT and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite lost 0.00%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Aurora Cannabis Inc (TO:ACB), which rose 17.08% or 1.110 points to trade at 7.610 at the close. Meanwhile, Canopy Growth Corp (TO:WEED) added 11.18% or 4.930 points to end at 49.020 and Trican Well Service Ltd . (TO:TCW) was up 8.18% or 0.220 points to 2.910 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Quebecor Inc Class B (TO:QBRb), which fell 4.71% or 1.31 points to trade at 26.48 at the close. Badger Daylighting Ltd . (TO:BAD) declined 3.72% or 1.18 points to end at 30.55 and NovaGold Resources Inc (TO:NG) was down 2.85% or 0.14 points to 4.77.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 551 to 534 and 131 ended unchanged.
Shares in Canopy Growth Corp (TO:WEED) rose to all time highs; up 11.18% or 4.930 to 49.020.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 0.15% to 13.28.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.11% or 13.10 to $1197.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.28% or 0.18 to hit $65.39 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.54% or 0.39 to trade at $72.22 a barrel.
CAD/USD was up 0.13% to 0.7665, while CAD/EUR fell 0.24% to 0.6676.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.34% at 95.67.
