Investing.com – Canada stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Energy and Industrials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite added 0.69%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Canopy Growth Corp (TO:WEED), which rose 6.54% or 0.620 points to trade at 10.100 at the close. Meanwhile, Air Canada (TO:AC) added 4.81% or 1.080 points to end at 23.540 and NuVista Energy Ltd . (TO:NVA) was up 4.75% or 0.310 points to 6.840 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Lundin Mining Corporation (TO:LUN), which fell 2.87% or 0.260 points to trade at 8.790 at the close. Turquoise Hill Resources Ltd. (TO:TRQ) declined 2.27% or 0.090 points to end at 3.870 and Brookfield Renewable Energy Partners LP (TO:BEP_u) was down 2.04% or 0.88 points to 42.31.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 717 to 372 and 136 ended unchanged.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 152.48% to 11.69.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.01% or 0.13 to $1335.83 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.40% or 0.19 to hit $48.26 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.85% or 0.46 to trade at $54.30 a barrel.
CAD/USD was down 0.63% to 0.8205, while CAD/EUR fell 0.71% to 0.6858.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 91.91.
