Investing.com – Canada stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Healthcare, IT and Energy sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite added 0.57% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Bausch Health Companies Inc (TSX:BHC), which rose 10.58% or 0.91 points to trade at 9.51 at the close. Meanwhile, B2Gold Corp (TSX:BTO) added 5.10% or 0.22 points to end at 4.53 and Air Canada (TSX:AC) was up 3.47% or 0.55 points to 16.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ballard Power Systems Inc (TSX:BLDP), which fell 7.00% or 0.17 points to trade at 2.26 at the close. NovaGold Resources Inc (TSX:NG) declined 4.09% or 0.25 points to end at 5.86 and Kinross Gold Corporation (TSX:K) was down 3.74% or 0.50 points to 12.86.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 540 to 390 and 107 ended unchanged.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 6.72% to 10.80.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.01% or 0.20 to $2,610.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.30% or 1.56 to hit $69.31 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.86% or 1.33 to trade at $72.94 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.10% to 0.74, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.38% to 0.66.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.43% at 100.36.
