Investing.com – Canada stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Energy, Industrials and Materials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite rose 0.57%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Hexo Corp (TO:HEXO), which rose 8.22% or 0.6900 points to trade at 9.0800 at the close. Meanwhile, Crescent Point Energy Corp . (TO:CPG) added 5.18% or 0.22 points to end at 4.47 and NuVista Energy Ltd . (TO:NVA) was up 4.33% or 0.200 points to 4.820 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Chemtrade Logistics Income Fund (TO:CHE_u), which fell 4.56% or 0.43 points to trade at 8.99 at the close. Ensign Energy Services Inc (TO:ESI) declined 2.99% or 0.17 points to end at 5.52 and Semafo Inc . (TO:SMF) was down 2.55% or 0.10 points to 3.82.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 605 to 463 and 127 ended unchanged.
Shares in Chemtrade Logistics Income Fund (TO:CHE_u) fell to 5-year lows; down 4.56% or 0.43 to 8.99.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 6.42% to 12.97.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.56% or 7.45 to $1321.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 2.09% or 1.23 to hit $60.05 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.06% or 0.71 to trade at $67.52 a barrel.
CAD/USD was up 0.12% to 0.7468, while CAD/EUR rose 0.57% to 0.6630.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.27% at 96.325.
