Investing.com – Canada stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the IT, Healthcare and Financials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite added 0.52%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Pason Systems Inc . (TO:PSI), which rose 9.41% or 1.87 points to trade at 21.74 at the close. Meanwhile, Pan American Silver Corp (TO:PAAS) added 9.31% or 1.93 points to end at 22.65 and MacDonald Dettwiler and Associates Ltd (TO:MAXR) was up 7.27% or 3.47 points to 51.22 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Parex Resources Inc (TO:PXT), which fell 15.32% or 3.490 points to trade at 19.290 at the close. Computer Modelling Group Ltd. (TO:CMG) declined 11.68% or 1.18 points to end at 8.92 and Canadian Tire Corp Ltd (TO:CTCa) was down 7.85% or 14.32 points to 168.08.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 621 to 433 and 161 ended unchanged.
Shares in Pason Systems Inc. (TO:PSI) rose to 3-years highs; up 9.41% or 1.87 to 21.74.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 2.99% to 12.33.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.10% or 1.20 to $1219.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.36% or 0.24 to hit $66.70 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.39% or 0.28 to trade at $72.00 a barrel.
CAD/USD was down 0.12% to 0.7671, while CAD/EUR rose 0.51% to 0.6649.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.53% at 95.45.
