Investing.com – Canada stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Industrials, Financials and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite added 0.47%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were TFI International Inc (TO:TFII), which rose 10.47% or 3.15 points to trade at 33.23 at the close. Meanwhile, Kirkland Lake Gold Ltd (TO:KL) added 8.81% or 1.580 points to end at 19.510 and Element Fleet Management Corp (TO:EFN) was up 7.95% or 0.35 points to 4.75 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Shopify Inc (TO:SHOP), which fell 6.66% or 12.040 points to trade at 168.640 at the close. Lucara Diamond Corp (TO:LUC) declined 6.38% or 0.150 points to end at 2.200 and ProMetic Life Sciences Inc. (TO:PLI) was down 5.03% or 0.080 points to 1.510.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 627 to 504 and 125 ended unchanged.
Shares in Lucara Diamond Corp (TO:LUC) fell to 52-week lows; down 6.38% or 0.150 to 2.200.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0.00% to 21.65 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.42% or 5.60 to $1325.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 1.08% or 0.67 to hit $61.12 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.43% or 0.28 to trade at $64.97 a barrel.
CAD/USD was down 0.34% to 0.7879, while CAD/EUR rose 0.06% to 0.6413.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.40% at 90.00.
