Investing.com – Canada stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Industrials, Materials and Financials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite gained 0.45%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Kinder Morgan Canada Ltd (TO:KML), which rose 6.99% or 1.17 points to trade at 17.91 at the close. Meanwhile, Precision Drilling Corporation (TO:PD) added 4.45% or 0.20 points to end at 4.69 and Turquoise Hill Resources Ltd. (TO:TRQ) was up 3.97% or 0.160 points to 4.190 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tahoe Resources Inc (TO:THO), which fell 3.14% or 0.18 points to trade at 5.56 at the close. Crew Energy Inc (TO:CR) declined 1.98% or 0.05 points to end at 2.47 and Cenovus Energy Inc (TO:CVE) was down 1.92% or 0.25 points to 12.79.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 677 to 440 and 136 ended unchanged.
Shares in Crew Energy Inc (TO:CR) fell to all time lows; falling 1.98% or 0.05 to 2.47.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 4.59% to 11.84.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.31% or 4.10 to $1331.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.69% or 0.44 to hit $63.51 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.84% or 0.58 to trade at $68.73 a barrel.
CAD/USD was down 0.63% to 0.7999, while CAD/EUR fell 0.47% to 0.6547.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.19% at 90.48.
