Investing.com – Canada stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Energy, Materials and Industrials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite rose 0.32% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were K92 Mining Inc (TSX:KNT), which rose 16.56% or 1.30 points to trade at 9.15 at the close. Meanwhile, IAMGold Corporation (TSX:IMG) added 7.22% or 0.45 points to end at 6.68 and Torex Gold Resources Inc (TSX:TXG) was up 8.89% or 2.37 points to 29.03 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Toronto Dominion Bank (TSX:TD), which fell 5.03% or 4.33 points to trade at 81.76 at the close. Stella-Jones Inc. (TSX:SJ) declined 3.87% or 3.64 points to end at 90.40 and Richelieu Hardware Ltd. (TSX:RCH) was down 2.06% or 0.82 points to 39.02.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 483 to 436 and 91 ended unchanged.
Shares in K92 Mining Inc (TSX:KNT) rose to 52-week highs; up 16.56% or 1.30 to 9.15. Shares in Torex Gold Resources Inc (TSX:TXG) rose to 5-year highs; up 8.89% or 2.37 to 29.03.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 3.26% to 10.37.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.82% or 21.65 to $2,647.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 3.28% or 2.40 to hit $75.64 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 3.30% or 2.53 to trade at $79.11 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.25% to 0.73, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.21% to 0.67.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 102.64.
