Investing.com – Canada stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Healthcare, Energy and Materials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite rose 0.31% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Canopy Growth Corp (TO:WEED), which rose 19.00% or 2.430 points to trade at 15.220 at the close. Meanwhile, Precision Drilling Corporation (TO:PD) added 13.80% or 0.45 points to end at 3.71 and Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. (TO:IVN) was up 12.06% or 0.510 points to 4.740 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Winpak Ltd. (TO:WPK), which fell 3.52% or 1.83 points to trade at 50.22 at the close. ProMetic Life Sciences Inc. (TO:PLI) declined 3.36% or 0.050 points to end at 1.440 and TFI International Inc (TO:TFII) was down 3.32% or 1.05 points to 30.53.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 624 to 466 and 144 ended unchanged.

The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 5.49% to 11.91 a new 1-month high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.42% or 5.39 to $1277.19 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.41% or 0.22 to hit $54.12 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.68% or 0.41 to trade at $60.54 a barrel.
CAD/USD was down 0.13% to 0.7797, while CAD/EUR fell 0.52% to 0.6691.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.38% at 94.36.
